Eclipse in Montana

The eclipse came and went with little to justify the hype it had garnered. With the fires continuing to pour smoke into the Bitterroot Valley, there was much benefit to stay outside as the event got underway. Belinda and I did peer outdoors just long enough to say we'd done our part!

The smoke is getting worse

St. Mary's Peak is hidden from view
July 2014
The smoke resulting from the fires surrounding the Bitterroot Valley has been joined by smoke from as far away as Canada and Washington state to create a blanket of dense smoke over the area.

Fire season has arrived

Lolo Peak fire, northwest of Stevensville
Shoe shopping at Goodwill
With the arrival of "Fire season" in southwestern Montana, one does want to find ways to stay cool on these hot, smoky days. Going to the Goodwill store in Missoula is a treat as one never knows what treasures will be discovered down the next aisle!

The weekend!

The heat has taken a rest, at least for a few days, following Saturday's storm that blew through the Bitterroot Valley.

This evening I was admiring the new sunglasses Charles had gotten that were being worn by Belinda and he gave them to me. I think it's a good look for me, cheers!

Heat spell in Montana

If the small earthquake was enough to get us going, the heatwave that is currently engulfing the area has slowed us down considerably!

A bit of shopping, or as Belinda calls it, retail therapy, was in order this week. It was nice to be in the air conditioning for a spell!

Minor earthquake in Montana

I live 1/2 hour south of Missoula
Around 12:30 this morning, a 5.8 earthquake hit near Lincoln, MT (Lincoln is 73 miles northeast of Stevensville). Belinda and I felt it but Charles slept through it!

No damages or injuries have been reported this morning. Lincoln was briefly without power but everything is back to normal now.
