A bit of excitement on College Street

Just before Belinda and Charles returned from their vacation there was a bit of excitement on College Street. Our neighbor, Doreen, found what was thought to be dynamite among her husband's items in the garage (he had died years ago). After the entire block was evacuated, it was determined that the material was not dynamite, but aged blasting material! Quite exciting but certainly relieved that it wasn't more serious for all concerned!

Eclipse in Montana

The eclipse came and went with little to justify the hype it had garnered. With the fires continuing to pour smoke into the Bitterroot Valley, there was much benefit to stay outside as the event got underway. Belinda and I did peer outdoors just long enough to say we'd done our part!

The smoke is getting worse

St. Mary's Peak is hidden from view
July 2014
The smoke resulting from the fires surrounding the Bitterroot Valley has been joined by smoke from as far away as Canada and Washington state to create a blanket of dense smoke over the area.
